It’s one of the few areas in Portugal that is protected from the open sea and rough waves, making it an optimal location for beginners to take their first steps in this ultimate water sport which is getting trendier year by year.
Booking alone? Lessons will be PRIVATE. As a small business, we do not have the capacity to pair single customers with other students for semi-private lessons.
With a partner? Take semi-private lessons IF you are both at a similar level and do not have a weight difference of more than 15-20kgs. You will share 1 kite between 2.

Private vs. Semi-Private
Private lessons are the way to go if you want to experience maximum lesson efficiency. Why waste a moment when you’ve come all the way to Portugal to learn this epic sport over a few days, even as a complete beginner? You will progress up to 50% faster in private lessons. If you can already ride and just want to improve, or are an advanced rider looking to add skills and tricks to your belt, then we completely recommend private lessons as well to ensure that the lesson content is 100% relevant to you.
Semi-private lessons are great if you want to share every moment with a partner or friend. The student to instructor ratio is 2:1 and you’ll share one kite between you, taking turns every 15-20 minutes. Semi-private lessons work best if both students are not more than about 15-20kg different in weight and are at more or less the same level. This way, the kite size will be a perfect fit for you both and the lesson content will be relevant to you both so that you’ll learn even when watching your partner. This learning technique is called peer-observation.
Lesson Breakdown
If you’ve never experienced kitesurfing before, then here is what to expect:
-
In your very first lesson you will learn the basics of everything; getting to know your equipment (setting up and packing down), beach based theory of wind and conditions, kite flying exercises in the water (developing your control of the kite is the most fundamental part of the sport. How you’ll progress depends on how well you can fly the kite.)
-
In the next one or two lessons you’ll be introduced to and getting familiar with the kite board; how to put the board on your feet and get up from the water, in preparation to start riding.
-
After learning how to waterstart, you’ll start to ride short distances. You’ll learn how to put the basics together and feel what it is to kitesurf for the first time. The focus is on your body positioning and further development of kite control to keep you cruising on the water.
-
After you get your first rides, we will help you fine-tune your technique; improve your balance to ride longer distances, control riding speed, and we’ll teach you how to ride upwind - the ultimate goal of any kitesurf student!
These time frames are based on average learning times of students with general physical fitness. Each person progresses at a different pace so it’s important not to compare yourself to others learning faster than you, or to put high expectations and pressure on yourself. There is a lot that goes into learning how to kitesurf, and as long as you have motivation and enthusiasm you’ll achieve anything you want to!

DISCOVERY KITE LESSON
Completely new to kitesurfing? Don’t have time to commit to a full course? Try the Discovery Kite Lesson!
You will get a basic introduction on the beach to cover safety, then proceed to some exercises with the kite in the water. We will spend a little less time on theory because this session is to let you have as much fun as possible. You will get a taste of how flying the kite is the fundamental of this sport. It is the most important step, because all the learning that comes later on and your technique of riding on the board all branches from the root of your kite flying skills.
*This is not intended to completely replace the very first lesson in a kite course. If you choose to continue with lessons later, there will still be theoretical aspects to visit to bridge any gaps in progression.
Duration 3 hours, €180 per person
(Semi-Private 2:1 option - €111 per person)
KID’S LESSONS
Why not start ‘em young in an adventurous watersport? Want your whole family to enjoy kitesurfing together and not have to worry about babysitters or taking turns with your spouse?
Our team is experienced in working with children and individuals with high energy, so you can rest assured your child will be in the safest hands! We have small sized wetsuits and harnesses, suitable for kids 35kgs and up.
What age can start learning? We do not define a specific age limit, because it depends on the individual. How well can your child problem-solve? How is their coordination and alertness? Do you usually have to follow your child around, doing everything for them? How independent are they? So depending on their mental maturity, age is not defined as long as they weigh a minimum of 35kgs to ensure our equipment is safe for them.

Packages from 6 hours up+
(Semi-Private 2:1 option €37/hour per person)
KITE LESSONS FROM THE BOAT
Are you an advanced rider wanting to maximise time on the water? Don’t want to walk upwind anymore? Or are you still learning but nervous about being in deep water?
We have the solution for you! Why not try a boat assisted lesson?
With this unique opportunity you can save time and energy by not walking on the beach, be closer to your instructor, or explore new disciplines such as strapless or hydrofoil in a comfortable way. We still use a walkie talkie on your helmet so you receive real time feedback from your instructor, making our boat lessons the most efficient way to learn kitesurfing.

STRAPLESS KITEBOARD LESSONS
Take your kitesurf game to the next level, or try an altertive to twintip and open an ocean of possibilities!
Are you preparing for the waves but still need to gain confidence on your directional riding technique? Or perhaps it’s only been an idea but now you’re ready to bring it to life and try strapless for the first time.
We have extensive experience in riding strapless directional boards in the waves, so you will gain invaluable expert tips and coaching in this discipline. The lessons will be held in the lagoon in a flat water environment. The focus of the lessons is on the more technical aspect of board control and footwork.
