ABOUT MUI NE..
Mui Ne is a fishing village that has become one of the most popular kitesurf destinations in Asia. It welcomes tourists of all ages and travellers of all types. The main kitesurfing beach in Mui Ne Bay offers a long stretch of sandy beach with ample space to launch and land, and for riding on the sea. The wind is cross-onshore, blowing steadily between 15 to 25 knots, occasionally peaking at 30 knots, between November to March. The kite beach is lined with hotels and restaurants so you are never far away from amenities and a lively buzz!
The accommodation we have chosen is just a short 5-7 minute stroll either along the beach or the main road to our partner kite school.
For those wanting to ride sweet waves and explore a different beach, we can show you a spot in the other bay where there are also kite centers with beach assistance. This is where João took part in several kite competitions over the years winning 2nd - 4th place in the strapless wave riding discipline!
ABOUT PHAN RANG..
Phan Rang meaning “Wind and Sun” in Vietnamese certainly lives up to it’s name – it is the driest place in Vietnam with the lowest annual rainfall, and has wind almost all year round. Phan Rang is still developing as a kitesurfing destination in Vietnam, and is gradually getting on more kitesurfers’ radars. It offers a range of different places to kite with a variety of conditions, but the most iconic is the wide lagoon formed by an outer reef - offering shallow water in the lagoon and waves and kickers for those more advanced out back.
During the winter high season (November to March) the wind blows cross on-shore from a North-NE direction. The wind is strong and reliable with an average wind speed of 20 – 25 knots throughout the day. These are prevailing trade winds and are rarely affected by any thermal. Light wind days are rare and even then it blows around 15 knots. On very strong wind days it can blow around 40 knots – great for showing off big air tricks!!
In contrast to Mui Ne there are very few foreigners here and not many people speak English. The locals are very friendly, although they are still genuinely surprised when they see a foreigner, especially in the rural areas.
THE TRIP
We’ll pick you up in Ho Chi Minh City centre, with the option for some of you to stay the night of the 13th with us in Ho Chi Minh City including airport transfer if you have flights arriving in the afternoon or evening, before taking a private transfer on the 14th to our first destination - Mui Ne - where we’ll spend 5 days enjoying the wind, sipping coconuts, and eating delicious food at lively restaurants.
You’ll be staying in a 3-star resort located right on the kite beach, with your own private en-suite room and breakfast included. Just step from the pool onto the beach and walk along for 5 minutes until you come to our partner kite station where you can store your equipment, rent if you won’t be bringing your own, or sign up for some kite lessons.
We’ll then head to our next destination - Phan Rang - via private transfer, just 3 hours away. This kite spot boasts epic views in more rural surroundings, and you’ll really get the chance to kite your heart out. It’s one of the windiest places in Vietnam, so get ready to kite, eat, sleep, and repeat!!
Your lodgings here are right behind the kite station, on the same property - keeping the business local. The accommodation is made up of cute wooden bungalows with en-suite bathrooms, and a restaurant on site where your breakfast is included, directly facing the lagoon. You probably won’t need shoes here for the whole 5 days.

Here are some essentials that we recommend:

- Insect repellent
- Hat and sunglasses
- Lycra or rashvest, board shorts
- Perhaps a 2mm neoprene top on the days with very strong wind. If you kite until sunset, you might feel the "winter chill".
